It's happening now.

Over the years a consistent thread in my work has been female identity; specifically women’s representation by others and of themselves. The topic is vast and multi-layered. The work is rooted in more specific themes such as relationships with others, “female intuition”, body issues, beauty issues and more subtle issues of expectations that women have of themselves and others.
My work has always been photographically based. But more recently I have been using found photographic imagery. I have realized that the found image locates itself in an every day experience, one that is hard for me to replicate. That said, recontextualizing the every day image (regardless of the fact that the images are from the 1940’s through the 1980’s) helps me focus my work on an on-going narrative that has to do with female representation.
The title of this body of work refers to the dichotomy of years of women’s self -repositioning in society only to realize in many ways that identity questions are still being put on trial often by women about women.
